Professor Dr. Satheesh Krishnamurthy earned his Bachelors, Masters in Physics from University of Madras, Chennai, India and Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. His Ph.D was sponsored by Overseas Research Scholarship, an award is among the most selective and prestigious awards offered to international students and scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and research potential by the UK Higher Education Authority. After spending 4 years as a postdoctoral researcher in Trinity College Dublin and further 4 years in Dublin City University.
During his postdoctoral research, he has worked in several European Union, Ireland India, Science foundation Ireland funded research projects involving Industry and academia, to address key challenges in carbon nanotechnology, oxide semiconductors for industrial applications.
In 2012 he joined as a Lecturer in Energy at The Open University, UK. From 2017, he is the chair of Energy Technology and Nanoscale energy and surface Engineering at The Open University.
Professor Satheesh's research interests include synthesis, surface engineering, structure-property relations of nanostructures and nanocomposites, materials science and applications of nanomaterials, energy storage, waste water treatment and superhydrophobic coating technologies. He has published one book and 100 journal papers with nearly 10,000 citations and an h-index of 32, based on ISI database. He has given more than 150 invited talks including several named lectures, keynote and plenary lectures in several countries and at several international conferences.
His PhD work came in BBC as he was involved in discovering new material called gold nitride. He is one of the pioneers in the field of surface engineering of 2D materials through atmospheric pressure plasma based technologies with specific applications related to waste water treatment, additive manufacturing and energy from waste.
